Woods & Baker design, published at STAIF 2005.
Concept: A phase coherent array of magnetron pumped
piezo-electric membranes (FBARs Film Bulk Acoustic Resonators)
Desired SNR of 10:1 leads to a minimum amplitude
requirement of 10^-30 dm/m - should be possible with a bi-modal array of
30,000 FBARs with 10,000 magnetrons.
Cost to complete: $8M to $15M includes all component
hardware costs, as well as integration costs.
Schedule to complete: 18 24 months, but could be
started concurrently with or just after the detection experiment.
